Is there a way of finding out what ISPs support xbox live for the 360?

i have ntl at the moment with a wireless router. going to buy an xbox asap and live will be the main reason why so don't want to risk it not working.

    thanks

No ISP's really support or don't support Live, apart from AOL who don't, its just if your particular connetion is of a good enough speed. I have seen the Xbox Live logo on the NTL web page before though, but any of their broadband packages will be good enough.

just setup your router with dhcp and you just plug your xbox into it you dont need any support from your isp.

Yeah there was a logo on there old site.

NTL works fine. I have 2 friends that use it with Xbox Live with no problems.

Hi guys, Thanks to eircom's recent antics with smart I'm in the market for a new broadband provider and well to be honest I don't want a land line in my home anymore (it means one way or another I'm paying eirscum line rental and that ain't gonna happen it will be a cold day in hell before eirscum get my cash again)

Anyway enough venting ;) I'm looking at NTL for the Broadband side of things, they will give me a 6Mb connection for less than the 1mb connection eirscum have been charging me, and I see from the post here that most people are happy enough with it for gaming, but do any of you use it for Skype or other VOIP/internet telephone type services? this is kinda important to me as I don't want a land line but I do want a home phone. Any info greatly appreciated :)

*edit* also what way do NTL present the broadband connection? RJ-45/router/modem/weird-A** proprietary, Gerbil powered, thingymebob?

For a phone line you should look into blueface.ie as you can then get an incoming landline number and don't need to have the PC on as you would with Skype.

Place I just moved out of had a 3mb NTL line (initially a 6mb line but that proved to be a waste - the 3mb line was more than enough). Xbox Live 360 was rock solid over it, as was Skype.

Wish I could get it in my new place :(

I'm in with the sharks now.

They give a normal wired router most of the time.

However, my hot fit ex flatmate was there when our we had ours installed and she managed to get a wireless router and wireless cards for no extra cost!!

So, might sir be willing to 'dress down' for the occasion ;)

I likes me wireless but there are limits to how far even I'm willing to go! :o

Maybe I can still use the netopia wireless router if eircom don't want it back, either that or I'll get a wireless access point ;)

Should be able to use Eircoms no problem.
I got a free Wireless router with NTL when I got it, not even sure if it was a special of some sort so definitely ask for one.

No wireless router with it when I got it, only the little cable modem, but we have routers of our own so no problem there.

Which they duly did (I'm alnilam's SO BTW), and we now have a 6MB connection and loads of nice digital telly!! After a few false starts, I managed to get the laptop onto the wireless network (totally my fault, not NTL's) but now I'm struggling with the 360....

So lads, please help me!!! The 306 is connected directly to the nice shiny netgear wireless router but I can't get onto xbox live... error messages when testing the connection show that it's failing at the IP address stage:
"Your PPoE settings were not validated by your ISP" - it doesn't seem to be auto assigning an IP address to the 360.

I checked the router settings and it's set to "get the IP address dynamically from the ISP".

Any thoughts? Can someone help out a poor girl who's feeling a bit blond over the whole thing???

check this out - use this info to set up your xbox 360, your router settings might be a little different but make sure your firewall is set to "low" or you will have trouble connecting.

Thanks land9, unfortunately even though it's the first time I've heard of that board, it's giving me a message telling me that "You have been banned from this forum" - wonder what I did to p*ss off the celtic snipers???
