Playing online for a month for buttons - trying to learn the game. First $10 STT and am almost in the money and am holding A3 and the flop was 332. Only one other player remains. Turn is 7 and he goes all in. He's not on a flush draw and I'm thinking wtf? I naturally call and see he has Q7 so I'm thinking I'm in like Flynn. River is 7. Ouch.

Later I'm playing a $5 STT, I'm in the money with the chip lead. Punter goes all in and I sleepily click Max and Bet so I'm betting double his All-In. I didn't think that was a problem until he won the hand and got all my chips. I thought betting max was just a lazy way of covering the opposing bets - I didn't think I was committing all my chips one way or the other. I'm an idiot. Why would anyone ever bet more than they need to? The software should have protected me from my idiocy. No?

Anyway - I'm loving this game. The low money STTs seem relatively easy to pick up money in so I'm wondering if I'm really learning anything from these games. At what level do people think you see more non-chumps than chumps if you know what I mean. I know someone will say there are chumps at every level but at what kind of cash level might you see the non-chumps in even a slim majority i.e. where a beginner might develop a rash as a result of the stronger play? FTR I admit I am a solid gold chump!

At all levels the majority of players are bad losing players. At the lower levels there are lots and lots of bad players but thats also because there are lots and lots of players. :)

You're wrong here in some way - if you had more chips than your opponent at the start of the hand then you can't lose all your chips, he can only win from you the amount that he had.

Had a look at the hand history and you are right. What was meant to be a call and a stupid one at that turned into a re-raise. Thats what I get for playing at 3am after a dose of post-Leinster victory beverages.

ewpjw won $11,480.48 which was his $5,740.24 and $5,740.24 of your stack. This would of left you with $3,209.64 after the hand.
