Yup, just picked it up today and reckon this could be the one to sell a million DSlites this Christmas,

What game is it? I hear you ask,
Is it some polygon, surround sound work of genius, combining drama, action and intelligence?

Nope, its 42 Alltime Classics on the DS!

Just picked it up today and its smashing, having a ton of card games last played in a damp caravan on a campsite in North Wales in the late 70's, but none the less its great.
Offering everything from Chess, Draughts, Darts Solitare and 38 others its a steal at only 35 blips.

Anyone else give this a shot?

Yeah seen this in Gamestop yesterday, didn't have the cash with me at the time but will probably pick it up tomorrow. Whats the multiplayer like? Do you need two carts to play system link or will one do?

I have most of them on my phone so I wouldnt be interested anyway

Probably the best online game for the DS as well.

    Brilliant stuff.

I'm up for some games tonight

I love it. Does this mean I'm going to be a father soon? :(

(Single card multiplayer for up to four people -- and when you duck out, they get to keep the game on their DSs until they power off! Cute. ^_^ Also, it's a fiver cheaper in GAME, Smyths etc than in Gamestop.)

There are some questionable games among quite a few true greats, and the AI is rubbish for some games (chess, most notably) but it's mostly wonderfully implemented and great value for €30. Plus, I've just unlocked a new avatar, so now I can be a penguin online.

Its nice, and even though I have a couple on my phone the interface is so perfect, its a pleasure to play.
Pity they bunged in Billiards instead of snooker or pool.
Maybe the next 42 will have those!

Far as I know, it's seven player single card play.

...but tell me this...what's the online texas hold'em like????

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 760 ✭✭✭TheAlmightyArse

As exciting as playing Texas Hold'em with no-one else in the room for no money. Which is fairly exciting, to be honest. All of the games include a colour version of Pictochat during play, which is excellent, but unfortunately you're restricted to using stock phrases against stangers online.

Are Solitaire and Freecell included? I've read conflicting info about these two specifically (and if they are, then yes, my Dad will be getting a DS for Crimbo :D )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,762 ✭✭✭smokingman

Solitare yes, freecell I'm not sure....haven't got through them all yet!
There is a form of battleships....is that close enough?

Got myself the american version of this game last week (it's called Clubhouse Games over there) and the sheer amount of online fun to be had is smashin, I only take it out of the slot because I want to have a go of the other games I have to get through like Starfox Command and Mario and using the browser and Phoenix Wright and Mario Kart and Advance Wars and......this could take a while!

I got this yesterday. Not too impressed with it. I play all sorts of card and board games with the inlaws, and so playing it on a DS just seems less fun than playing it in real life :)
As for online texas hold'em, it's not no limits, so I can't stand it.
The darts, bowling and billiards seem too basic: just point and stroke.
The only game I've enjoyed so far is the balancing one, but that looks like it'd get old real fast :)

I wish they had a Go game on it :(

No freecell, but my Dad was delighted to see Rummy on it, a game he hasn't played since being in Nottingham in the early 60's as a trolley bus driver!
I miss minesweeper but hey, can't have everything, its quite a package overall, enjoying Chess and wish I could play Backgammon and Bridge.

Re. Balfa's post - I hear ye, and I would always prefer the feel and touch of real cardboard compared to the digital ones myself, but I'm getting it to multiplay with the Missus (we got 2 DSs) and online with my brother (in FR) and my 2 nephews (UK). Try and do that with the real stuff :D;)

Enjoying a good bit of rummy myself, still working through the stamp missions.

It's excellent online as well :)
