Just watching Sky News here and the UK is up in arms with Jack Straw for asking Muslim women to tremove their headscarfs from their face when they call into his clinic, he argues that he wants to be able to see people's facial expressions when he is having a conversation with them. Personally I couldn't agree more with him and think he is dead right. As usual, a normal non-offensive request relating to wanting to have a full conversation with someone is taken up by the Muslim community as offensive and discriminatory. Am I missing something here???

I'm going a bit off topic here, but do they have to remove them when they enter a bank etc?
I assume not, but isn't it just the same as wearing a balaclava or motorbike helmet into a place. They're completely unidentifiable.

I feel a little compassion towards the muslim women as I'd imagine that they must get quite used to wearing them and would feel quite naked and exposed without them on. At the same time I don't like the idea of a religion that makes women hide behind their robes.

Hardly the need for another thread on this issue. See Politics. If you feel it should be reopened, send me a PM. Thanks.
