    Hi,
Im just wondering has anyone setup a wireless transmitter from their pc to a receiver on their TV so that you can play movies or whatever via wireless rather than using the S-Video connection or is it possible. Gonna have an LCD TV mounted on the wall in the house and don't want any cables hanging down the wall .

    Thanks in advance

You could use a wireless TV sender, which you can get in Argos among other shops. They sometimes have an S-Video input on them. This might not be very practical as you'd have to be at the PC to start/stop the video in your media player.

A better solution would be to have a Wi-Fi receiver at the TV. It would have to be able to access a share on your PC where the movies are stored. I heard that Apple are bringing out something like this soon, the iTV, and it may be able to stream video over 802.11g (or 802.11n). It's not going to be releases till next year though.

I use an modified Xbox connected to an 802.11g wireless bridge to stream xvid/divx files from the PC. 802.11g isn't really fast enough to stream a DVD, unless you can get and maintain perfect signal quality while playing the DVD. I think there are other similar devices out there to do this though.

I use a pinnacle systems show centre 200 which has both ethernet and 802.11 capabilities. the performance is excellent. involves a MSDE SQl database on the pc which will comunicate with the showcenter.

however you will need to have the showcenter physically wired into the tv or an av amp. what i did was get all my cables sorted and then you can buy connection panels with the connections dmi /hdmi etc and bury the cable and replaster (lot of hassle) or build a stud partition with all the appliances flush (looks great) either way you need the Wife Acceptance Factor

Thanks guys, might check out that one in Argos as I will have the pc in the same room, I don't really mind having to control it from there!

At least now I know there is something available .

    cheers :)
