    Cheers,

I think that there is an Irish moblog service but its available only to o2 customers i think. You can also post onto blogger via mobile.

I photoblog (http://blog.rymus.net). I can recommend getting yourself some webspace and installing wordpress. That'll take care of all your photoblogging/moblogging needs.

Rymus, that link to your blog seems to be down. Not sure if you are aware.

Hey Rymus, just checked out your blog site - I like it!!

Must touch base with you sometime to see how easy it is to do. Just out curiosity, why do a blog, whats the purpose. Thats a general question rather being specific to you??

    Cheers

    Mike

Mike, years ago I used to update static html pages which was a pain in the arse for daily updates. Then I moved to moveable type which was marginally better.

The idea behind the blog is so I can update regularly with ease, keep everything in nice neat categories and syndicate with other sites and blog search engines. Keeps the ol listing high up in Google :) There are countless other reasons why starting a blog is a good way to getting a personal website up and running and a few nay sayers that dislike the whole blogging thing for their own reasons. Personally, if it wasn't for blogging, I probably wouldn't bother regularly updating the website.

Setting up a functioning blog is childsplay, the optional fiddly bits like addons and plugins come after.

I photoblog at Dancing Shades of Light. I think if you've a Flickr account they make the moblogging side of things easy. I don't do it myself because I haven't got a great camera phone.

Google's Picasa is a really nice photo organising and editing program that interfaces directly with Blogger, and has a great new gallery-like Web Albums feature as well, not to mention built-in print ordering and a ton of other amenities... and it's about as easy to use as anything can get. Since it looks like you use Linux, it also comes in a native Linux version.

(obligatory disclaimer, I worked on Picasa so I obviously can't be that objective -- but, uh, it's great anyway.) =)

I set up my site to use serendipity ( www.s9y.org ) and gallery (optional). I like that it lets me put in full-sized images (which i never do) or more thumbnailed pictures. It does text wrapping pretty well with the theme I'm using (and modd'ed). http://www.sweeneyb.com/me/archives/32-Cork-continued.html for an example.

The downside is that you have to admit to using a "blog" (i hate that term and being roped in with ... them) and you have to set it up yourself. The setup is fairly easy once everything is uploaded.

The Linux version technically isn't native and I really don't like it. Long live gqview!

Mine's http://inphotos.org/ of course - another WordPress powered site. Get yourself a blog on http://wordpress.com/ and try posting there.
Unless you have an app on your phone that talks xmlrpc you won't be able to post there from your phone, but it does have a nice uploader and file management is improving all the time!

My brother Donal blogs at http://donal.wordpress.com/ and has quite a few photos there. Like Fenster, he uses Flickr to host his images.

    Me biased? Not at all!
