Monitor contrast effects box keeps appearing?

Not sure if this is a virus or what but the box that usually pops up when using the buttons on my monitor to alter contrast keeps popping up randomly & I can't get rid of it! Anyone know what is going on? This is the third monitor I've had from Dell & I'm hoping it is not terminal. :(
