More Wicker Man?

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0323808/

"...and Robin Hardy himself who never followed through on the promise of "The Wicker Man", is directing again - a horror film called "Cowboys for Christ". The plot has some thematic echoes of his earlier cult hit: it's about two American innocents who get ensnared by a sinister community. There will be character similar to Lord Summerisle played by ... erm ... Christopher Lee. Which promts the pressing question: Will we ever be free from The Wicker Man?"

Have to agree with MisterAnarchy....maybe if you were watching it when it first came out it'd would've scared the bejeepers outta ya, but nowadays it's so obvious what those folks had in mind.. Sorry Karl Hungus

    No worries.

But ask yourself, does it really need to scare the bejeepers outta ya in order to be a good film? I mean, I think it's a great film, but even seeing it as a kid it didn't scare me. I think a lot of people simply have the wrong expectations about it, and assume it's a horror or that it's supposed to be scary, just because it's occult-themed.

    I loved the original.
A brilliant piece of films, and definatly years ahead of it's time.
    I haven't seen the re-make yet though.

Well, you're right alright, except I find that this is one film that it's hard to get the denouement (oughhh) outta the back of your mind. I'll have another look at it today to see whether i can appreciate it any more. (I may be distracted by the dvd of Kung Fu Hustle staring down at me from the shelf, however).

Was the original scary? No, not untill afterwards. Edward Woodwards acting at the end was so good and the fact that what happens happens (Im assuming that there are people reading that dont know) that it was afterwards that I got the chills.

Does anyone remember a TV horror called "The Lady in Black?" same sort of effect.
