3.4Ghz P4 vs 3500+ Amd 64

Have been using a 3.4Ghz p4 for the last two years and its still fine, but I would have the chance soon to switch over to a Amd 64 3500+ and use my existing 7600gt in it. Any opinions on whether it'd actually be worth the effort?
