    from sky.com/news.
New rules governing what people can take on planes have been approved by the European Commission.

The move means there will be a Europe-wide standard in place next month for air travellers.
Passengers will only be able to take liquids beyond security checkpoints if they are in containers which have a capacity of no more than 100ml.
Travellers will be able to obtain drinks or perfume once on board, as the new regulations lay down controls to ensure on-board purchases have not been tampered with before loading.

People will have to pack their liquid containers in plastic bags of no more than one litre in capacity and present them at security.
They must also remove coats and jackets and remove laptops and large electrical items from bags.
The new rules also introduce EU-wide maximum sizes for cabin luggage, but not for another six months and with exemptions possible for musical instruments and large camera equipment.
Bags bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm will not be allowed on board.

The rules also end restrictions on airside shopping after security checks and allow normal shopping at landside outlets, as all purchases will be placed in sealed transparent bags, deeming them secure, before they are taken through checkpoints.

The changes are in response to the stopping of an alleged plot to blow up transatlantic planes using liquid explosives.

Probably not far off, we'll be allowed walk on in an oversized, see-through plastic bag. :(

...while the real terrorists will be able to board in their next generation long-chain molecule explosive designer look-alike jacket that can't be sniffed yet!

I would rather be subjected to Israeli-style boarding restrictions than this ineffectual bull****!

This is not going to catch a would-be terrorist - just piss millions of people off worldwide - only to let the real terrorists through!

I've had sealed medicines stripped from me - to have sealed gums allowed which could have been C4 - this is crap security!!!

I'd feel a lot more respectful of this process if I'd been grilled for 20 minutes by a security operative (an Israeli - not an American moron or an Irish gombeen - or a British dickhead! - someone who was trained to spot a terrorist!)

In a nutshell - liquids/pastes etc. are now no longer the terrorists choice of bomb - they are not stupid - this process is just pissing people off.

To stop the terrorist - you need Israeli style interrogation before the flight.

This doesn't have to always be the case: this could be relaxed for a flight from Cairo to Mecca for the Hajj:rolleyes:

Let alone the effort and time it takes to make a liquid binary bomb!
