First hand of 300+ player online freezeout tourney.

Your in the BB with 7h8h. Everyone pushes. Call?

Im wondering whether calling is +EV here with any two cards on the basis that a win will put you in a great position, and seeing as its the first hand you havent really wasted any time on the tourney, all you've lost is the buy-in.

(this happened to me, although with only 5 people ahead of me going all in)

I'd fold. Looks like there's easy pickings out there if you stay around to play. But if its a freeroll . . . I'd have a think.

    call with aces here?

I occasionally like to do this in freerolls, giveaways etc but making this call is a bad sign. It shows a lack of motivation to actually play the game.

not a freeroll. $12 freezeout, about 350 players.

Im thinking along the lines that I dont mind taking a (big) risk for the chance at winning an 18k pot on the first hand, as I havent invested any time in the game. If I lose I shrug it off and move onto the next game.

Sorry for the slightly off topic. Does anyone know is AA most likly to win against any other 8 hands, if you can pick the other 8 hands to give one of them the best chance?

    AA v 22 v 22 v 33 v 33 v 44 v 44 v 55 v 55

No straights possible, except ones that split the pot. No other hand can improve to trips. Basically I think our hand is unbeatable.

Sorry Rory, but to go back on topic, I also think I'd call here, I'd say we should have between 15% - 25% equity here and what a lovely pot to win. I'd expect to at least Final Table if I won this pot.

EDIT: Did this really happen, I'd love to know what they all had, I'll guess AA, KK, AK, 1010 and KQ

I ment the opposite. Whats the worst case scenario for AA (glass 1/2 empty remember!)

yes i was up against AA KK KK Q10 and 44.

    the aces held up :)

oh and with the first point, if the board comes 6789K, surely the 55 wins the pot?

Q10:eek:  , I hope he was the first pusher??

Dammit I forgot about that, ah well, I still think this is the best possible??

Although, I now see that Flibble meant the other way around. TBH, I would hazard a guess that there are no other cards in an 8 way pot that can be a favourite against AA, (it is the nuts PF after all)

Although I'm sure you could easily reduce the AA's equity down very low, by putting AA in one of the other hands, and then something like KK v QQ v JJ v TT v 99 v 87 v 65 v 43. I think in this situation, AA basically has 0% equity (bar a 2222x flop, where we split it with the other AA) and the KK is the new favourite.

again this is slightly flawed :)

There are more ways to win other than 2222x.
Other than a straight flush splitting the pot, I think you need a pair of twos on the board for the aces to hold up. If this happens, once the high pairs dont hit their trips, the lower cards can pair and the aces will still have the higher two pair.

    eg

    22378 or 22357 or 22567 etc.

I agree that you have shown both the best and worst eight hands to be up against.

Well spotted, I don't know why I go that extra step...

There's also 222xx (where the x's don't make some one a higher house, like 22257)

AA turns into a dog in 5+ multi way pots quite easily

Hasn't Ste05 shown NINE other hands in the 2nd example.
    Our AA, v AA v KK v QQ v JJ v TT v 99 v 87 v 65 v 43.
Back to the drawing board with ye.

Pedantic, but hey, its that sort of thread.

LOL, I knew I did that, and I was wondering who'd pick it up...
