    Hey all.

    I need to mount a couple of 14' x 11' prints.
    I know zero about mounting.

Some of you have lots of experience from that stephens green exhibit!
    1. Should I attempt this myself?
    2. does anyone have a link to a guide?
    3. I have access to a guillotine for cutting
    4. If it is too tricky for a noob, I'll have a stroll around limerick on saturday to see who does it/prices etc, but if anyone knows of a decent place, you might post it and save me some hassle!

Jeez, when you said large prints, I thought you meant A1 or A0 :)

    Definately attempt it yourself.

Get a suitably sized frame, get a pre cut mount, tape the photo to the back of the mount, put mount in frame. Job done. You shouldnt need to cut the print or the mount if you get a frame size to suit.

    thanks Rymus,
They are large for me , considering I only started printing out photos a couple of weeks ago!
Anyways, my problemo is that I didnt stick to any standard sizing with my photo. I just cropped with no ratio. doh.

so my print has some spare white bit all around which I'll need to trim leaving me with a non-standard size :(
Right so i did a little bit of googling and it seems that the cardboard bit inside the frame which you stick the photo too is called a mat?
or is that a bit of board behind the photo and the mount?

I presume if i were to cut the mount diagonal cuts into the corners work best?
shure i 'll give it a go and see how I get on. I dont really want to frame the pic, just dolly it up with a nice carboard border. Might frame it if that looks gammy.

mat/mount, it's all the one. If you have some whitespace around the edge of the photo that'll help with mounting the print.

Take thyself to an art supply shop, you should be able to get a mount there that'll closely match your photo. If you wanted to cut the mount yourself you need a special bevel cutter (and heaps of patience).

All the better if youre not too gone on framing it. Just look for a suitably sized pre-cut mount in an art supply or framing shop.
