Omaha cash game hand

So I'm killing a bit of time last night in the Fitz and I get roped into a €50 round of each table. !! (I wasn't going to be around for too long I thought and what harm eh??)

I sit down with €160 and the table is newly formed so people have between €100 and €300 in front of them 8 handed. I have no reads particularly but surprisingly from playing with some of these players in holdem and from watching 6 hands I think there at least two worse players at omaha at the table than me!! lol

Very loose player utg has raised 5 of the first 6 hands and raises to €4 blind utg. Everyone calls so I decide to call with KQ77ss in the SB as the big blind is a rock and won't reopen the betting wiothout a monster which he clearly doesn't have. Its probable no one has a monster because the way the utg player is raising and reraising you'd be crazy not to stick in a raise against him as he'll at least call.

Flop comes 976 rainbow and I check and its checked the whole way round.

The button contemplates a bet but decides not to.

Turn comes a 3 completing the rainbow.

    Do you bet out here??

I checked and once again its checked around.

    River comes a 3.

Do you bet out now?? I decide I'll check and give someone a chance to stab at it but I won't reraise. Theres €32 in the pot. Loose utg player bets €15 and gets called by the button who has a range (he's an experienced player but I don't know him well) and I rethink my options.

    Do you reraise here??

your position is horrible with that flop. I would probably check that turn and call a bet on it.

On the river I would lead with a pot bet, you'll find out very quickly where you stand as only 99, 66 or 33 will raise you. As things worked out, yes, I would raise here. Its the Fitz :) If somone has 99 or 33 , so be it.

Also, UTG bets 15 (??) so probably low straight and button only calls with two players to act after him. Miles ahead I reckon.

I would check flop, lead turn despite position, and def lead river. As played, definitley raise. Make it 60 to play. Top set was never checked on this board twice, and it is highly unlikely that anyone has 33, so raise and call a reraise if necessary.

If you had only lasted longer in the tournament than any of the newbies you brought in this wouldn't have happened.

    I didn't say this hand was a bad thing did I?? ;)

I just thought on reflection maybe I should have lead out on the river, so surprisingly enough I agree with you Dom!!

I didn't think 99 was out there and of course 33 could be out there but it is unlikely. I think I lost value from the random hands with a 3 and a 6,7 or 9 that could have likely looked me up.

At the time I didn't see too many hands calling a reraise but that was silly. I didn't factor in that they don't know I'm an omaha rock in the same way I didn't know them. I very weakly flat called and took the pot down with a lot of strange looks to which I felt compelled to respond "I don't play omaha cash too often".

Some people thought I was taking the piss. :D:D

That is a very obvious spot to raise Olly. I think checking the flop is fine. I'll often check the turn as well.

agreed. I acted too quickly on the river and then I felt a check raise committing my stack would be very transparent after the €15 came around so I played it like a pussy and didn't bother reraising. I think a lot more experience is needed.....

    Thanks all for the comments.

Bet turn, reraise river for value. You want both to call so a pot bet would be too much.
