not really bother with Fresher's week?

I don't really know anybody else around, so I don't really plan on going to any of the evening events such as Traffic Light Ball etc. this week on my lonesome - I'd feel a bit strange turning up on my own. I've joined societies and introduced myself to folk in lectures etc. but that's all - I'm sure there are others in a similar situation. So already are 'we' (us folk who don't bother with the evening events) behind the other Fresher's getting out there nightly? Just curious as to what people think...
