..... v Cyprus (Sat) and Czech Rep (Wed).

Personally I think we're only gonna get 1 (draw v Cyprus). Hope I'm proved wrong.

How many points will we have after the Czech game? 52 votes

    I think we'll get three.

We'll win in Cyprus, and the Czechs will beat us.

My heart says 3 but my head says....... 3 as well! So i'm gonna go for 3.
Reckon they'll scrape a 1-0 win in Cyprus and lose 1-0 against the Czechs.

Don't think they'll hammer us but it shall be a loss nonetheless.(which will almost certainly mean the end of our qualifying campaign).

Win 2-1 against Cyprus and 2-0 against the Czechs. :)

btw - Do you know the last team to win in Cyprus by more than 2 goals? You guessed it. :)

4 points. A narrow win on Sat and a backs to the wall draw against the Czechs.

Watching Celtic v 'Pool Legends on Ch5. Houghton is still not half bad. Might be worth Stan giving him a callup should we get more injuries between now and Sat :)

I voted for a pessimistic one, Cyprus are trickier than most people give them credit for and I can't see us getting much against the Czechs.

Internationals. :) Amazing really that we were the last team to win by more than 2 there 5 years ago. They're a pretty underrated team.

btw, Rangers right winger Sionko will miss the Ireland game. I know you can't stand the SPL so I have to bring this up. He has scored 2 and set up the other 3 of the Czechs 5 goals so far. :) I'm even happy to promote Rangers players on boards. ;)

I'm as apprehensive about us having to travel to Cyprus as taking on the Czechs at home. I'm going to be optimistic and say 4 - a hard earned draw on saturday and, after taking heart out of the game, go onto beat the Czechs 1-0 :)

Ah! I knew you were Paul Osam all along!

I'm gonna say 3, with a win on Saturday followed by a loss next week.

An easy six points against two poor sides.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,998 ✭✭✭✭Nalz

    6 points for definite...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,985 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Cyprus 4-1 for the draw, 8-1 for the win, and thats conservative odds.

    Anyways,
1 point would be 'I told you so',
3 points would be 'but sure the czechs robbed us,
4 points would 'and we had the czechs beat as well,
6 points would be 'thats more like, now for the world cup'

I'm thinking 4 points from the 2 matches. A win against Cyprus and a draw against the Czechs. Although, we never do it the easy way so it'll be probably a draw against Cyprus and a win against the Czechs.

Either way, if we don't get at least 4 points we'll be in a very bad position for qualification.

If we are lucky we will get 0.
We were very luck to get out of Cyprus 12 months ago with a 1-0 win. This time the Cyprians will have ambitions of making up for last year and we are a poorer team this time round.
I can’t see is beating the Czech’s no matter how they are a team on the way down, we are on the way down faster.
And our manager does not have the experience to make the correct changes when a game has to be won or salvaged.

Please tell me you won't be hoping Ireland lose just to see the back of Stan?

No I hope Ireland win both games, it's just that I think we will loose both. The way they have preformed in the past 12 months plus the injury list plus Stans inexperience do not give me any confidence in them.

I do not believe Stan is the correct man for the job and I have no confidence in the FAI replacing him with a more capable manager if the posotion were to become avilable again.

Gonna stick my neck out here and say six. I know Cyprus should have beaten us last year but recent results say to me that was a once-off performance of a life-time, still they'll be no push-overs so I'll go for a one-nil. The Czechs are not a team I rate highly, so although my head says a draw think we will scrape by. After that, hopefully things won't look so bad as we have back to backs against San Marino and two home games against an awful Welsh team and Slovakia so Stan really should be aiming for six wins out of six although fifteen may be good enough. Fingers crossed, we can't be that bad?????

I reckon we'll draw on Saturday and lose on Wednesday for the simple fact that the manager isnt a manger and we will pay the price for that.

I was been serious. I thought he meant we'd be lucky to lose both as it'll probably see the end to Stan's reign. My 2nd reply was to show how I was easily confused.

I have a question for all these very optimistic people who are saying we'll get 4 & 6 points. Who is going to score? we have'nt created a single decent chance in 3 games

Morrison in Cyprus. His record for us in away qualifiers is good.

Keane will do the business at home, he is due a goal.

Yes but how are they going to score, we have nobody creating any chances. Dose anybody even rember the game last year against Cyprus? they out-played us for most of the match & we had an even better team then with a slightly more experienced manager

Will settle for 4 points but want 6 though think we will draw both games.

Did you know that FACETIOUS is the only word in the English language that has all the vowels in alphabethical order? Well you do now!

'That was a difficult night for us a year ago, with the focus on a game with Switzerland a few days later,' recalled 27-year-old Dunne.

'It was a case of, "Oh, we'll beat Cyprus and then we'll see what happens against Switzerland".

'We managed to get the early goal, but then after that we didn't play at all. We became complacent as we probably thought we would get a hatful.

'Of course, my obvious recollections of that game are giving away the penalty, and then Shay making a brilliant save.

'He was outstanding that night. He saw us through to give us a chance against the Swiss.

'Overall, it was a bad night, a bad performance. Nobody can look back on that game with any pride, apart from Shay.'
