As has been mentioned a few times here on boards, the gripes that players have with dealers and i think this is a very useful place to air them and maybe help the dealers change their ways... but as a dealer i would love to hear the (constructive) points from other dealers about what they enjoy from players and also what basically makes life difficult for them...
so just as the other thread maybe players could take note of a few things from this too? let the b1tching begin! lol:)

    1) Players acting out of turn repeatedly after warning them number of times!
    2) Players that sit there when u remind them its there turn still sit looking at you
    3) Players thats just downright ignorent

Thats all most players iv ever dealt to are cool i wouldn have much to complain about but im sure il think of more lol

    Dislikes:
the things that bug me the most are players who constaly try to sort out sidepots that they are not involved in when you basically have them sorted out already(correctly). also i hate players correcting you on basic rules which they think are right but are blatently not, such as string betting etc. players who dont control their body odours, (which is actually more common than one might imagine, its more difficult for the dealers as they dont have the choice of leaving). players who give a live commentary on EVERY hand, and how it should be played "optimally".

i must say that most of the players i deal with are a lot of fun, i like tables where you can have a laugh with the guys without the game slowing down. people who are considerate and realise that you dont bum deal them aces on purpose! also players who never complain, and encourage others around them to act similarly. and also and simple enought one but players who say thanks, it does go a long way with me anyway.

Ahh fiddlesticks...i was just about to start this thread! If we can b1tch about dealers then we can b1tch about players.Seems fair?
My main gripe with players is them abusing you for not getting cards, its disrespectful and its not my fault the cards arent going your way...its called variance! Also when players when they've won a hand immeadiately reaching for the pot..
In fairness about 95% of players who I deal to are actually very good and usually no problem at all with them..

If dealers take thanks i.e. a tip for winning a pot, an odd "ah ffs dealer" should be allowed when you havn't seen a hand for a hour.

No it shouldnt, you think your one euro tip gives you the right to act the w*&ker to someone who is only trying to do his/her job?

I didnt say I done it. And I didnt say anyone can be a wanker to the dealer. I think is ok to direct your vebally expressed dissappointment towards the dealer. This is at a consqence of accepting tips. I've never abused a dealer and I'm all for tipping.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 329 ✭✭DocO

the consequence of accepting the tip?? lmfao - you serious yeh??

sometimes in the heat of a bad beat or something like that situation somebody may say something to the dealer, but normally it is followed by an apology or the player storming out, but i dont think in any case you can actually expect the dealer to sit their knowing he should accpet an "odd ffs" just because of a tip. A tip is gratitude for a hand, not a way of paying into the poor box for your upcoming swears like a child would do. I dont think anyone has this point of view (apart from yourself, although you claimed you dont, and if not then why bring it up). It is not ok to direct your verbal abuse at a dealer, you should learn some manners and keep your verbal abuse to yourself, the same way you shouldnt give out **** to the bus driver because of traffic.

    Catch a grip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 762 ✭✭✭Duff Man Jr.

But you dont tip the bus driver if there is no traffic.

i hope this a wind up.
you should in your fcuk be able to abuse a dealer just because you tipped them.

the dealer is surely within his rights then to give the guy back his money and hit him a good smack if he thinks its warrented

Ive read some quare stuff on boards along with all the good stuff, but this heap of sh ite tops it all. Who do you think you are to say its o.k. to abuse dealers just because your not winning hands? I feel like throwing the abuse at you right now but thats not my style. If I was card dead for a couple of months (and I have been), I wouldnt dream of taking it out on the dealer.

In fact I try to make a point of thanking a dealer everytime I exit a table,
theyve a tough job and dealing (excuse the pun) with stupid individuals like you who seem to think they can talk down to a dealer makes it even tougher.

PPS: im on tilt after reading and answering this.I do hope somebody comes on and says it was all a joke(in bad taste may I add)
If I was a dealer at your table,Id prefer if you held on to your tips and kept your opinions to yourself.

    1) Players who reach into the pot to take their change
    2) Players in the blinds who don't have chnge and take it from the other blind making it look like their is one blind
    3) Players who say "raise" when they are first to act after the flop.
    4) Players who say "re-raise" when they are first to raise.
    5) Players who peacock their chips or don't put the bigger chips to the front.
    6) Players who don't believe in tipping or only tip at the end of the night if they are winning and then think they're doing you a ****ing favour.
    7) Players who think its ok to talk about their hole cards during a hand and continue to do it after 900 warnings.
    8) Players who say "check it down" when 3 handed and one player is all in.
    9) Players who think you should wait for them while they are away from the table have a fag.
    10) Players in seat 1 and 10 who don't protect their cards and leave them way way out there. One guy kept doing it after I had advised him to protect his hand so I intentionally mucked his hand the next time he did it. Incredibly he didn't learn his lesson.
    11) Players who have been playing pot limit for years and but still ask you how much the pot is when they are one of the first players to act preflop.
    12) Players who take 3 hours to muck their hand after a showdown when they are beaten.
    13) Players who act out of turn about 10 times a night.
    14) Players who fold after someone says raise, but doesn't say how much or put in their chips. This sets off a chain reaction of folds around the table and all of a sudden the player who wants to raise has gotten rid of half the table. I once saw a player say raise UTG 5 handed and take the blinds before anyone knew how much he was raising.
    15) Players who throw chips into the actual pot, or make a bet and put it behind the line where only your go go gasget arms can reach. Equally ignorant are players who say fold but expect you to reach across the table for their cards.
    16) Players who constantly call clock when players haven't had sufficient time to act.
    16) Players who put their hands over their cards or hte cards behind their chips so you have no idea if they are still in the hand, then tell you after you've passed them and 2 other players have acted and you've put out the turn card. "What about me dealer!!" WTF!!!
    17) Players who put in one big chip, say nothing and expect you to be a mind reader as to whether its a raise or a call. Some places use the "big chip rule" , and some dont.
    18) Players who constantly say. "Is it on me?" I've yet to hear someone say that when it wasn't their turn. You would think the fact that everyone to your right has no cards and everyone is looking at you would be a bit of a giveaway.
    19) Players who constantly much their cards dramatically sideway intot he air so half the table can catch a glimpse.
    20) Players who muck their cards actually at the dealers hands, then blame the dealer when they are flipped over.

    *ahem, draws breath*

    21) Players who expect you to continue dealing after closing hours, and believe you have an obligation to your poor customers who are just trying to win their money back. Then try to make YOU feel guilt despite the fact that you've just worked a 14 hour shift throught he night and have only made €20 in tops.
    22) Players who softplay their relatives and friends in cash games. That aint poker.
    23) Foreign players who refuse to abide by the "English only during play rule"
    24) Players who have a friend not in the game sitting over their should peeking into their cards. Usually when you tell them to move, they move about 2 inches. If you're not in the game just **** off.
    25) Players who cause deck changes every half hour because they keep bending the corners of the cards. I knew one guy who was probably responsible for ruining every deck we had.
    26) Players who take chips off the table in cash games.
    27) Players.who ask others for a loan at the table and think its ok to pass chips around. Then abuse you and try to make you feel guilty for not allowing it. For some reason they think they are entitled to borrow chips from a player they lost a big pot to saying "Sure its my money anyway". What am I supposed to say? "Yes, of course, After you've lost it to someone else it is still partly your money isn't it? Of course you are entitled to it sir, reach away!"
    28) Players who blame the dealer for their poor run of cards. Yes, indeed, you didn't see any cards at all for the last hour. That's why you went broke,.It certainly wasn't because you still decided to see every flop.
    29) Players who constantly want to rabit hunt despite the fact you've told them 457 times already that its not allowed. .
    30) Players who smell really bad.

Yeah, Dealers have it really easy, I must say. :)

People that dont have a clue how to cut chips, say all in and then hold onto their chips trying to count them one by one/ count their chips stack them and then fire them in leaving the dealer to pick them up and recount them.

    "Ill put you all in"

in fairness, i think the reason players do this is because at some point they've made a string bet and a dealer has told them to, "say raise, say the amount and place all the chips over the line in one movement." Thats what I tell them anyway.
    15) Equally ignorant are players who say fold but expect you to reach across the table for their cards.

Christ, I think thats the thing the annoys me the most. especially if they have a quiet voice and its a busy night, you dont hear them say "fold" and sit there looking at them waiting for them to act and theyre wondering why the dealer isint mucking their cards.

another thing i hate is players who are on a bad run asking for a new deck, especially in a tournament. if you think the deck is flawed, fine no problem, lets get a new one. But if you REALLY believe changing decks will change your luck, maybe poker isint the game for you. if you want me to waste 2 mins gathering up the old deck, getting the floorman over with a new deck, fanning the new deck, washing the new deck, riffling the new deck, breaking the new deck down, rifiling again, cutting and dealing thats fine. especially as its a 20 min clock and youre shortstacked. im sure the other players on the table are equally appreciative.

I'm not a dealer, have never been and have no plans to be one, but seeing as it's been mentioned here:

I really really really really hate players who tell the dealer what the sidepots should be, despite the dealer being perfectly capable of sorting it out on their own.

I really really really really really hate players whose ambition is to call the winning hand the microsecond the cards are turned over, then grab the relevant cards before the dealer can get them.

Right for the last time I have never abused a dealer, Saturday my Aces got cracked by 10 6 SUITED in a €400 pot and not one word of abuse, no abuse a few months ago when my Aces were cracked heads up in a €1200 preflop pot by 89, or when i tilted off the rest of my stack. THe point is I dont give them abuse. I think i'm a more than fair tipper and I only break 1 of Nickys commandments, I think.

Nicky has dealt a fair bit to me and I think he'd agree i'm not that much of a cnut of a player.

I can vouch for Duff Man. He's a gent. I think the wording of the post meant its tone was somewhat misunderstood by people who don't know him, but he's never said a bad word about my dealing despite it's awfulness. :)

On another note. I've recently found myself doing things I hated players doing when I was a dealer. Mind you it didn't happen much when I dealt, because although I wasn't the best dealer on the planet I was very good at fooling everyone into thinking I knew exactly what I was doing so they let me do my job. But, anyway recently I've been helping dealers sort out side pots, telling them what they should do next, "take in the BB into the pot before it disappears" "If you cut the cards that way people can see them" "there's 800 on the side sweetheart" etc etc etc. but what else can I do when the action is finished and the poor clueless trainee dealer is staring blankly into the centre of the table praying for guidance from above!!
