i have been smitten by this little thing as an ssia purchase. my only thought is that a v8 might be to big for it. i dont mean a 6.7ltr monster but i think it would be a great combination for pooteling about in.
can any one tell me if this convetion would be possible ?
i have found the car but its not worth it if i cant play with it.

    any help would be great.

    i did find this www.ye-beast.com
:) but think its slightly above what i ahd in mind.

I would like to be there when you tell your insurance company that you are driving something like this :)

I had a 2.5 Spitfire up to recently that had a TR6 carb engine. It probably only developed around 125 bhp but it was fast enough for me - especially in the wet.... If you want all out performance you can add fuel injection and a few tweaks to get 170 bhp easily. If you want good handling to go with all this performance then you might consider a Zetec transplant. It doesn't sound as good as a 6 cylinder but it'll be a better balanced car.

The 6 cylinder drops in with a few minor modifications and has been done by plenty of people before. The Zetec conversion is trickier and will require a bit of work around the exhaust, engine mounts etc.

As far as insurance is concerned here, I could only get third party, even though I added it to a comprehensive classic car policy.

Add up everything you can think of, then at least double it!
It is always cheaper to buy a good car than try to "do up" one.
After saying that, the reward is when you have finished your basket case and it looks the part.

    Heartache!

Buy one that's been restored already, in the UK, preferably.

its always been somthing i have wanted to do .....but i can see the logic.
i even had dreams about colours inside and out and engine matches.
ok i will keep looking for a running model.
where would be a good place to pass on this fixxer upper for its current owner. he asked the triumph owners club and they said it had no value and he should do it up himself.

    thanks for the help :[
