Liberal use of the  smilie is most certainly in order.

I think they should have a cut off point for selling cigerettes like say that you can only buy them if you are born after a certain year (meaning that if you turn 18 after a certain date you cant buy them), this would stop (not) young stupid people like these women from buying them.

I really find it hard to believe people are this stupid ... and I've read the thunderdome!

    Come again??

As for the thread in general I think the actual severity of this is being ignored, if this really came into play it means the avergae height could start to drop. Through evolution we coiuld all be four feet tall in the future!

i read this and tbh it doesnt surprise me what kind of stupidity exists on this planet. these people smoking purposely while pregnant should have their babies taken off them and given to someone with some common sense

I saw this story, it's a load of rubbish to be honest, the reason more teenage mothers smoke is because the majority of teenage mothers are from working class areas and there are more teenage smokers in working class areas. I have no idea where they got this idea that they were making a decision to smoke to purposely try to have underweight babies to make labour easier, ridiculas story, 2+2=5 logic.

They also face a 26% increased risk of miscarriage, or stillbirth, and a raised risk of giving birth prematurely.

bet they aren't told that bit

I don't see the problem. Lower birthweight means less pain. The real problem are all the childless people they should be triple taxed.

It is a woman's body and her right to choose.

That is the most selfsish decision a woman can make. She is running the risk of ruining her babies life just so child birth is a little easier.

well, i havent read the link above, but i did hear an interview on it this morning on bbc 5, and the gist of it was that more and more teenage pregnancies were asking if this is something that they could do.

whether people are actually going out of their way to start smoking to cause this to happen, is debatable at best.

    eh?

i think you have it the wrong way around. im sure they are told this, and im sure they are not getting advised that smoking will ease the pain during birth due to smaller children.

You gotta be taking the Pi**??? if you decide to have a child, its your obligation to do everything you can to give that child the best start in life. If you can't handle the pain don't do it. unless its just a means to get mickey money from the state.

I don't believe just because you can procreate thats its a right to bring a child into the world. Personally i would just make a crap parent so i won't be going down that road. If you cannot afford to feed, cloth and provide a roof for your child out of your own earnings you should'nt have one.

Yes yes i know genuine accidents do happen, but thats not what i talking about

They say that children are our future. I say the future looks bleak.

    Hezz.

it sounds to me like it's their friends or other young mothers that are tellin people that it will ease the pain however i doubt they would tell them all the facts and the dangers it could cause

An example of yellow journalism? Perhaps it's the smoke?

Maybe a better answer would be not to get f*cking pregnant so young...

Is it any wonder we have the amount of juvenille crime we have when idiots like this are bringing children into the world, who've also had their developing brains starved of oxygen. What chance has a kid with a mentally deranged mother and a possible inflicted birth defect?

Wahooo!!! I will be a giant amoung men :D *wanders off looking for a way to beat death to take advantage of evolution*

Back to topic.... That is down right disgracefull!!! Their hight is not the only thing that smoking during pregnancy will effect. More of a problem would be the growing number of defects in the human race. (Theres enough already)
