Ford Focus Full Service in Galway, Where to?

I have been looking around in Galway to get my recently purchased Ford Focus a full service. I just want to bring it in for peace of mind and get a full checkup and one or two things looked at.

The most prominent problem I have so far is that the exhaust rattles when in lower revs and when I start the car before moving off. I have been told that it is due to the exhaust being a little loose, and that it can be fixed with an appropriate belt or fixture, to make it more secure and less prone to vibration.

The second thing I noticed (which if there is really a problem, will probably cost me a bit) is the central locking. The last 2 mornings have been very cold and when I go to open the driver door, the central locking system should open all doors when I use my key. However when I turn the key in the drivers door, just the drivers door opens and the central locking doesn't activate. As soon as I get in to the car I hear the central locking noise and the remaining doors are now open. It's like there is a 5 second delay or something.

That 2nd problem first happened yesterday morning and then again this morning, but not in between or before then. I believe that central locking is an expensive problem to correct if something goes wrong. I hope to put a few hundred quid aside for a service, but I am wondering where is the best place to get this done. The Ford centre in Motorpark was my obvious choice, but I would imagine they are expensive. I see every now and again garages do a full service special offer for about €99. Failing that would I be looking at around €300 (+ parts, if necessary) for a full service. The Focus is a 1.6 petrol by the way.

    Any advice appreciated.

How old is the car? Might be an idea to actually ask the Ford garage how much they charge it may not be as much as you think. If it's a 06 you shouldn't be due a full service until you hit 40000 kilometres and the service interval for normal servicing is every 20000 kilometres.
As for the problems with your car these are warranty issues and have nothing to do with servicing - bring it back to the dealer and get them to fix it (unless you bought it privately of course) either way these are problems which may require specialist equipment and the main dealer is usually the best place to go in these cases especially when it comes to electronics issues. And believe me I'm not one for doing dealers any favours especially Ford ones (don't get me started!)

For the record, I've used the Ford Centre in Motorpark a few times and find them quite good. But as eamon234 says, give them a ring and get an approximate price.

    Try Tom in Motorpark.

For your central locking, go to Jeremy in MJ Systems in Victoria Place (just off the docks). 091-561449. IIRC, all of the wiring for the central locking is in the drivers side kick panel in the focus;.

Mention the other problem to him as well; he may be able to suggest a solution, or they may be able to fix it in VP Motors, which is in the same building.

Let us know how you get on.

I wouldn't give them a wheel barrow to service.

The GF had to go 3 times to get a wheel bearing changed(in A Focus) and tried to charge her for labour to sort what they didnt do right the first time
