Galway Corpo has issued the flood alert for this weekend.

    27 September 2006
Galway City Manager, Mr. Joe MacGrath, has called a meeting of representatives of the Emergency Services next Monday to plan for the threat of flooding to Galway City between 5th – 10th October.
Mr. MacGrath is acting on foot of advice from metrological services that are predicting High Tides that may result in flooding to some parts of the City during this period.
The areas most at risk are the Low Lying Areas of the City Centre, including:
    • Flood Street
    • Spanish Parade
    • Lr. Quay Street
    • Seapoint Promenade
    • Grattan Road
    • Salthill Promenade and Car Park
    • Silverstrand Car Park area.
This is the second time in less than a month that such a warning has been issued by Galway City Council and it is also predicted that High Tides will reoccur in the month of Novembe

The good news is that it may keep those screeching hen parties out of Quay Street for a few days.

The next question is what about the weather ? Here are 2 five day forecasts.

    and the BBC one

I do not see a low pressure storm steaming in from the westand pushing water into Galway Bay along with the high tide though. The lows are cutting across the North of Ireland instead.

While one could veer south it looks like we will avoid it , this time.

    But don't tell the hens.

These are some very strange posts lately Mr. Bob.... none of which have turned out to be true.
