walk around town, and every second shop has an add in their window for 'english speaking' people needed..

My advice would be to bare face lie, and tell them you have experience to get the job

Loads of places!! I was walking around Temple Bar and saw loads of "Staff Wanted" signs. With all the students back in college and most of the summer immigrants gone home, lots of places are hiring.

Have you tried looking at any of the jobsites? I like www.jobjobs.ie (searches the different jobsites)

i doubt id get one in temple bar or any were over the south side of town for that matter not only do i have no experience but i come from a place that doesnt have a good name for its self :(

yeah ive seen a few ads for part time staff on shop windows but not any full time ones..i guess ill just have to go in the wekend and look at every shop window..and drop a cv in

Even though we all know this shouldnt be a problem, there is good and bad everywhere. Unfortunately people do make judgements!!

A mate of mine used to lie and use his cousins address!!

You cant be that desperate for work so if you are already ruling places out.

i am desperate for work im just not desperate enough to work in a fast food place..like come on no offense but you hardly see any irish people working in them no more..

Ah right so you are desperate for work just not in places where people arent the same nationality as you

then i suggest if you have some ideas of what you do want and you dont want, then you put it in your posts.

it makes things a lot easier for people.

bythe way, mcdonalds are one of the very few companies to be in the top 100 companies to work for in ireland for the last 5 years.

I'd suggest you try aldi/lidl stores. Hard work, decent money.

However i wouldnt rule out fast food places. They provide a good introduction to the marketplace. If you get a job in fast food resturant, your often pormoted with 1 year or so , (if your any good and you stick it) which does look good on a cv.

Also they often have non conventional working hours, which suit some poeple better than others.

Well thanks for the comments guys...no i dont mind working with people that are different nationalities i just dont want to be the only irish person working with them..

i want to work in retail or something like the such..clothes,shoes,music shops etc..and was just asking people if they noticed any ads online, shop windows etc..

yeah i am thinking of applying in aldi and lidl but i think you have to be over 18 and im only 17

Are you jsut after doing your lc?
Have you never had a job before?

Would something like a fas course suit you, where you can earn new skills for a better job and get paid at the same time suit you?

    www.fas.ie

yeah i just did my leaving cert there before the summer..im actually in dcu at the moment but gonna be most likely dropping out of the course in the next week or so..so want to have a job when i leave..

no ive never had a job before :( ..so i kind of have to go with some sort of retail job because there the only employers i can really see employing me..and itll probably be hard to get one at that..so thats why im trying to get one now because ive heard its the easiest time to get one coming up to christmas..

yeah ive heard about the fas courses and i will probably end up doing one of them if i dont have a job by christmas..

Have you tried any of the supermarket chains? They're normally hiring all the time, and they tend to pay well - relatively speaking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,206 ✭✭✭gustavo

Factories tend to pay well too without needing experience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 867 ✭✭✭IgsTer

yeah i think the fas site would be the best place to look for factory operative jobs..might look into that..and yeah super market chains would be a good place to start..probably tesco or dunnes or something might be looking for staff around now..hopefully :) ..thanx lads..going into town tomorrow so ill bring about 10 cv's wit me.. :D

Try looking for a job in a warehouse. Good pay, me thinks.

Alot of place are hiring Christmas staff now so it is a good time to find a job.

Can you change to another course in your college that you might prefer?

M & S is hiring for christmas staff at the moment, apparently they're not too fussy on applicants either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 867 ✭✭✭IgsTer

yewah ive applied to a few warehouses in the past during the summer but to no avail :( ..think they either want someone with a few years experience or a forklift lisence..

yeah thats why i am dropping out of the course now instead of after christmas when it would be alot harder to get a job..and no i dont think it would be very easy to switch to a different course and even if i did i probably wouldnt like any of the other courses they do there.. :(

Really assmaster kronk..that was one of the places i waS gonna drop a cv into today..thanks for that..hopefully she works out for me :D
