Ok, so i'm reinstalling windows xp for my friend. I've gotten the cd key and all through the reg only to realise that it is "microsoft windows xp professional version 2002" and it wont work with any of the xp install disks i have. He's lost the cd (typical) and i am pleading for help . anyone have any ideas of how to overcome this?

You'll need the install media. If you have the original licence certificate, MS may furnish you with a new install media....otherwise you're looking at borrowing one off someone.

If you have a genuine Cd-key of some sort, just download the relevant install media then.
