I've been playing at home in nl cash games a fair bit, and was half thinking of heading up to the fitz tonight.

What's the standard like? Anyone from boards heading over that I should avoid? :)

I haven't played pl before, is it much of a different game to adapt to?

value bet top pair to the river
    don't bluff/continuation bet
    don't give free cards/slowplay
    don't tilt
    play lots of flops
    fold to check-raises
    buy in for €200+

the pot is often €30-€50 on the flop with 4-6 players so if you're playing the hand one of ye will end up all-in and you need showdown value like top pair(flop texture deppendant) which you bet on the flop and if the turn isn't horendus you follow up, you can observe how strong/weak their call is on the flop by looking at them.

ex. flop TTJhh pot €30 you hold QT

bet the flop €30 get two callers

pot the turn get one caller all-in

Sounds like back home. Standard was pretty bad, but I was card dead all night so couldn't take advantage. Some ridiculous play going on.

Pot seemed to be the standard bet all night. Question tho, how is the max bet calculated?

    It is:
3 x last bet + amount in pot previous.

Another way to look at it is:
If you put out the amount of the last bet, then the raise is the total of all the money in the hand.

    Example:
Preflop- SB 1, BB 2. 2 x limpers. You want to raise. You can make it:
    3 times last bet = 6
Amount in pot already before last bet = 1+2+2. Total bet from you = 11.

    Alternatively:
If you were to call there would be 9 on the table including your 2, so you can make it 9 more, so 11 total.

Post flop - If you are first to act the amount is the amount in the middle. If someone before you has bet the full pot, you can multiply their bet x 4 and that is your bet. If someone bets less than the pot, say pot is 50, someone bets 20. You can make it (3x20)+50=110.

Yep, I was in seat four. In about 4 hours of play I won one pot with top set. Couldn't hit a flop. Maybe it's because I am a noobie for this place and think that high cards are good, when really it's 84o , 75o and q6 that are the monsters.

That guy was unbelieavble. He just seemed to hit everything, he insisted after you left that you were on a flush draw in that hand, hmmm, "pot, pot, pot" on a paired board doesn't seem like the usual way to play a flush draw

That rivered nine was just sick.

Thanks 5starpool, why is there no appetite for nl games in dublin?

    You tell us!
Every time the Fitz spreads NL it dies a death after a couple of weeks.

Flushdraw? You would think that he had copped on a little to how I was playing after nearly 5 hours. Sigh.

I had you on a three at the least, even said to myself I wouldn't be in this pot without the house. He didn't seem to like folding hands.

Why would people prefer pl? It's just extra work for the dealer and restricts your play?

I would not want to see NL in the fitz, because you would still have the crazy big stacks, re-raising for 200 pre-flop with 7-5
