I hope people aren't jumping to the conclusion that this poster illicitly downloaded copyrighted content! It's entirely possible that this (potentially) god-fearing, law-abiding person paid legitimately for a download service such as that on Amazon.com etc.

In which case, OP, I suggest phoning the customer support line of this legitimate business you legally downloaded said film from, and availing of the advice of the people you paid for their service.

Its not. Saying that you downloaded a movie illegally is, and people have been awarded bans for it in the past. See the charter, section 5 "Discussion of illegal activity will result in a ban".

The extension .DVD-RIPPERS is a wee bit obviously against that, ain't it? UNless you can prove to us that the movie you downloaded was released publically with the consent of the copyright holder, that is.

I didnt download it illegally and im not discussing anything illegal i was asking how to play a certain file..
It is possible to download a film without it being illegal believe it or not..

DVD-RIPPERS is probably the group that released this particular public domain movie file and there may be another extension after that, such as .avi/.mpg/.mov. But if you have file extensions hidden (as is the default for Windows explorer) then you won't see it. If not, you can add an extension by putting .avi at the end.

To check the file, drop it onto Windows Media Player, or better still VLC Player, and it should play as long as the necessary codecs are installed.

Gspot may be able to tell you what format the movie is in.

Horse...door....bolted....Thank you for all the reported posts. Unfortunately I was AFK for most of today.

icemanjimbo04, if this is indeed not a dodgy film, can you post us a link to it please?

Jor el. See your PM inbox.
