    Hi All,

Can't think where else to put this som move it if in the wrong place.

A workmate bought a Creative ZEN M player to go with a Windows XP machine. Now to say he isn't technically savvy is like saying Hitler was a naughty man, just setting the scene here !

The guy has asked me about converting DVDs to use on his player and straight away I'm thinking of hours spent on the phone trying to explain what to do EVERY time he tries to convert one.

Being a Mac user myself I have limited experience with performing this on WinTEL box so please forgive my ignorance. I use Handbrake, MactheRipper, VisualHub or PSPWare myself for my PSP.

I know that there are numerous free apps for ripping DVDs to decrypt them and then countless more for converting them to .mp4 .wmv or divx or whatever but what I need for this guy ia a one button "do it" type app.
The media center software that came with his player can convert from any (common) video format except from DVD afaik, but he knows how to use it for basic things.

One app I've found is by www./m2solutionsinc.com/zen-converter.htm - has anyone here used this ? Does anyone have a better suggestion for this guy - remember he wouldn't know video resolution from a jack plug so it must be simple to use without getting involved with settings.

Sorry about the long post but I needed to get accross the simplicity of app required for this guy.

One last thing, the ZEN M can play divx movies as well. I went to the divx site where I'm offered something called a community codec but it's not clear what this is capable of ? From what I read it's an encoder to divx as well as a decoder. If this is so why do they also SELL divx converter - is it not the same thing or am I right in thinking it's merely a nice frontend for the codec and that the community codec can provide divx encoding from apps like Quicktime Pro etc.

    Again thanks in advance !!

    ZEN
