    Hi guys 'n' gals,
Through my links with the Mercedes Benz Club I have been contacted by a reputable company who have carried out the above treatment for many of our members with complete satisfaction, on site without mess.

Our members have been extremely happy with the work and this company is now reccommended and endorsed by the Club.

They have asked me to gauge interest to see whether it would be worthwhile their making a trip over from the UK for a few days to carry out their treatment, so I decided to ask here as well as with our own Club members.

I believe the treatment is in the region of €600-€700 depending on the car !

Let me know your thoughts !

I am planning on getting this done soon and am interested. So is this just an underneath thing or do they do the door interiors etc etc?

Ditto - I'd like to know how long it lasts.

    I couldn't afford that once a year!

Don't think it would be for me as I'd like to do it myself, and money is an issue.

This is the full job, wax injection into the cavities as per manufacturers instructions, into door panels wheel arches, undercarriage etc...

The entire car is steam washed and scrubbed first.

It is not something that needs re-doing, though subject to daily extreme use you may need some re-application in 3-4 years !

BTW I have no connection with this Company but I have seen their work and it has been recommended by friends !

how to they steam wash and scrub it and apply it without making a mess!!??

don't they have to let it dry too?

they are saying they can do all this on my driveway? or have I picked it up wrong?

Well, I wish I had heard of them one month ago... I have now started doing mine myself...

I had asked one of the UK Waxoyl experts (see here: http://www.before-n-after.co.uk/ ) if he knew of any alter-ego in Eire... could not say... The website makes VERY interesting and compellling reading. Boys, this is the way to keep using your classic metal all year round (sell the other car :) ).

I am still up for Waxoyl week ends... I have already found another MGB owner(esse) and a hangar for the oily party. Just need buckets of the goo, plastic sheets to protect the floor, a 5mm drill bit and lots of pumping :)

Definitely interested. My DS had the full treatment 4 years ago and it has helped enormously. I'd like to have it and the GS done, but I have to get the work done on the GS first.

Definitely register me for interest, though.

Sounds a bit expensive to me....even for a days work and materials. You could buy the equipment and materials for about 200 euros max (excluding power washer of course) I don't mean to undermine the company or anything but I've done many cars over the years and its really not a huge job....messy? yes.

well, it needs some motivation to get down and dirty... I hate to contemplate doing this out in the rain... :)

Would a car have to be completly rust free to start with. The bottom of my doors are starting to bubble, would it be a waste of time in my case?

I am about to have a go doing mine - never done one before but a friend who has a lift and has a couple of classics offered to help so who am I to say no!

€600 - €700 may seem a lot but when you take materials, equipment and wages into account (I am sure there would be more than one person doing the job) it is not too bad! Still too much for me though!

Tom, waxoil "kills" the rust, it stops it from spreading. The damage done is... done though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,266 ✭✭✭MercMad

Obviously the results would be better of you start without any rust, but the stuff does kill rust.

Yes the can do it anywhere and yes they do have huge plastic sheets, yes they do wash and dry the car .........how I dunno but we can find out !

I think this job would be better than anything you could do DIY. Should I get their phone number and post it here so you guys can talk directly ??

Going in for a service in a couple of weeks. Think I see what that costs before I commit to any waxing.

In the interim I shall utilise the oversize hand-held spray can of waxoyl I bought on anything that looks dodgy.

C'mon SSIA - mature damn you!

Count me in as interested MercMad - once I sort out the leaks

Having read http://www.before-n-after.co.uk/ it looks like 4-6 hours of work.

time to spend the communion money :)

    Hi guys,

Waxoiling is good, but not every waxoil is suitable for the job. In case of a rust free car Dinitrol might be o.k. My personal experience as a panel beater and restorer of many cars has shown, that the best product for the job on classic cars are products from Fluid Film or Mike Sander's Grease. They come in different specifications for different purposes. Fluid Film is easy to use, it can be done by everybody who wants to lay his hands on his own car. Mike Sander's is difficult and should be done by professionals.

For more information please visite my website or conact me per email.

    Regards,
    Benjamin

    Ben

    Just checked out your site.

Under the for sale section you list 900 yo yos quoted as the cost of treatment.

Seems a bit steep given the guys above are offering to come from the UK and still do it for 600 yo yos.

Are you based here - if so why not match the above offer for boards members?

Go on - you know its a good thing ;)

the waxoil job for 900,- has been done in Germany by a different company.

I charge 650,- for the complete protection (cavities, undercarriage, wheel arches)

    Regards,
    Benjamin
