Great news on the venue change.

The Village is my most hated of venues.
Will have to pick up tickets soon.

Me, personally, I prefer the smaller more intimate venues .. Up close and personal and all that.

Just got this email from ticketmaster
The Decemberists - Change of Venue

    Original Venue: The Village, Dublin
    Rescheduled Venue: Vicar Street, Dublin
Due to unforeseen circumstances The Decemberists performance at The Village, Dublin 03 February 2007 has been rescheduled and will now take place on the same date in Vicar Street, Dublin.
Tickets for the original venue remain valid for the new venue.
For customers unable to attend the rescheduled venue, refunds are available.
Customers who purchased their tickets from an outlet can obtain a refund by returning their tickets to the point of purchase.
If you have purchased your tickets via phone or Internet, you must return your tickets via a secure method of post to:
Ticketmaster Head Office, Grafton House, 70 Grafton Street, Dublin 2.
    Best Regards
    Customer Services Team

    In this respect, substitute

    "unforeseen circumstances"

    for

"the opportunity for us promotion company types to squeeze even more money out of you lot by moving this dispensable artist to an even bigger venue, potentially diluting the effect of their music, but invariably increasing our bottom line"

and you're closer to the truth..

Still, Im glad its on. And I cant wait.

What's interesting is that Entertainment Ireland have always listed this gig as vicar street.

    Greatest venue change ever.

I'd of already bought a ticket but for the fact that it was on in the village.

The village isn't intimate, it's small.
Also poorly designed with entrance and toilets to the front.
Is too narrow, is too long, roofs too low, so if you're stuck halfway down the acoustics are crap and there's pillars in your way as well as tables. At max 300 people can see and hear the gig comfortably, everyone beyond that get's shat on.

Vicar st on the other hand maybe has a dozen bogey seats at the side of the venue.

Of course the move is to get the promoters (and band) more money. For starters they'll be getting mine which they wouldn't have otherwise.

Have to agree with voidiod on this one. Village is ****. Vicar St. is deadly. And I won't have you say a bad word about Aiken.

Decemberists gig has been moved from that dump that masquerades as a venue (The Village) , to Vicar St, thank the heavens !

Jeff Tweedy this week was amazing there so its edged ahead as no1 venue, <SNIP> a close second.
The Point was laughed out of the qulifying rounds.

I was at a gig at The Village there recently (I cant remember whose the promoter and Im too lazy to check so Ill just leave all 3 of their names unnamed) and I have to say it was terrible in the sound dept. Might as well have been listening to the cd played loudly by your neighbours. I dont think Ill go to a gig in The Village again. Waste of money.
