Steam & Vista Oddity

    Im using Vista build 5600 32 bit and so is my mate.

    We both have steam installed, but his works and mine doesnt.

    Mine was working, but then stopped. Wont load up on startup no matter how many time I try to install it.

    PC's are nearly identical. Both high spec machines, both fairly new.

    So how come he can use steam and I cant???

    Do you both have the same version of Steam installed? Have you tried reinstalling it? Is it possible that it could have corrupted itself during an update?

    Remember that Vista is still a Beta and as such there may be issues with interaction with other software and hardware.
    There may be differences in config between your machine and your mates, either the hardware or the software and Steam may not work because of it.
    None of this helps you but may highlight the risks of using Betas or even RC1.
    I havent had access to vista yet. Is there some form of an event viewer that you can check for errors or warning messages?

    delete Steam.dll SteamU.dll and Clientregistery.blob and restart steam
