Max distance between dish & receiver

I did ask this a while back for a motorised system, but cant remember or find the answer (grey cells & all that).

What is the maximum distance I could have between dish & receiver for A) a static dish & B) a motorised dish & still receive signal (and operate the dish for a motorised). Also what cable would I need to use ?.

I have to sight a dish as far behind the house as possible to get line of sight & disguse it in the garden (fussy wife). Is 50 metres possible ??

    Thanks

it depends on what kind of cable youre using

For very long runs an oversized dish can help (say 90cm instead of 80cm)

50metres might be OK if you use CT125 or better. Not sure if CT100 will be sufficient over that distance, particularly for already weak signals if you're going motorised.

Excellent - if i could get 50metres it would be perfect & I'd have a clear line of sight too.

What sort of cost is ct125 & can I buy it in 50m lengths ?

You can put a line powered equalised Line amp about 10m or 20m from dish to drive the cable. About 20 Euro to 50 Euro

CT125 is very expensive and needs a slightly larger F-Connector.

25m/ 30m even of CT100/PF100 will work, because although the signal gets low the noise is attenuated too, so even weak signals have fairly much the same quality. Weak transponder beside a very strong one will actually work better as the strong signal can't as easily overload the Tuner.

Thanks.....this pic may make things clearer (garden is less of a mess now !!)

The house faces south/south west (190 degrees) & the sky dish is on the left hand side of the house at the front. I have a shed half way down onthe left hand side, but dont think I'll clear the roof of the house to get a signal, so if I could site at the end of the garden - all is solved.

Garden is 210ft long from house to end.

Are we saying that with good cable I could run a motorised sytem without too much problem ??

cheers for the help lads - I'm kinda lost otherwise !!
