    Where are you accessing the internet from?

    A proxy is like this ( easy version)

    Your PC =====Proxy======Internet

    So your pc asks the proxy to get a page from the internet, then the proxy goes and gets it and passes it back your pc .

    The machine running the proxying program is probably setup to not allow stuff like gnutella through. So , ask whoever looks after the proxy.
    You could get yourself a box out on the internet and run http tunnels or tunnels over dns or something , but whoever looks after proxy may not be impressed with your new trick

    It isnt really the proxy that is causing the issue, if you cannot access the "direct" internet, and have to use a proxy, then you havent a hope. Most proxys only handle HTTP and FTP, they blindly forward HTTPS and often cannot support any other protocols. IIRC, P2P programmes and BitTorrent dont work well (if at all) though proxy servers.

    martinaoe2, HEANET dont like filesharing for a reason. Maybe someone in the legal forums can explain to you the reason for this.

    Is limeware delivered with loads of adware?
    Not good for a PC?

    Yes it is, even though they claim it spyware free. Not good at all.

    limewire is just a gnutella client, use a different client, emule?amule is better anyway, edonkey is the way to go mldonkey etc.

    edit: my internet connection is firewalled so somethines i run thises programs over an ssh tunnel to a socks5 proxy
    so like ssh -L 1080:127.0.0.1:1080 myshellwithproxy
    then tell the cient on your machine to look to socks proxy on localhost:1080, works fine.
    you may need to do ssh -D 1080 myshellwithproxy
