Letterkenny & Holywell Hill Aerial Combine HELP ?

    Hi
My TV reception is affected by wind turbines

I have 2 wideband aerials in Donegal 1 pointing at Holywell Hill - Derry (good reception all round (amplified) but ...
    - RTE 1 and 2 (channels 23 and 26) badly affected by the wind turbines -
    - channels 55 thru 65 have BBC1 & 2 C4 & UTV and are pretty ok

On the 2nd Wideband aerial pointing at Letterkenny
...... I can get good RTE on channels 52 and 56 from Letterkenny
UK channels (39 thru 49 are very poor - even after amplification)

So what i want to do is combine the 2 aerials

I want from the Holywell Hill transmitter only channels 55 thru 65 (UK channels)
    I want from the Letterkenny Transmitter only channels 52 & 56 (RTE 1 & 2)

what equipment would anyone suggest (some sort of combiner / channel filter perhaps ?)
    thanks

Hmm, that's going to be awkward.

It's going to be very hard/expensive to combine 2 aerials picking up signals in the same group (C/D).

    Right first, the available Tx's:
    Holywell Hill (IRL) C23-33
    Letterkenny (IRL) C52-68

    Limavady (NI) C55-65
    Strabane (NI) C39-49

Ideally, it would be good if you could get the RTE's good from Holywell (and UK's from Limavady C55-65), or else get the UK channels good from Strabane 39-49 (and RTE's from L'kenny). Then the other could be combined with a relevant A/E combiner.

Have you tried adjusting each aerial to see if picture quality can be improved? If it worked, the best case scenario is get your RTE's from Holywell, and your UK channels from Limavady, as Limavady carried DTT/Freeview signals.

You can get channelised filters from companies like Taylor although it could work out expensive combining 8-10 analouge and six digital multiplexes

Another option is to use a dual input preamp (booster) line the ones Johansson. do

Or Polytron in Kinsale (no website).

thanks for the replies guys :)

yes it looks to be a problem - will try and adjust the aerial a bit - was considering combining both outputs but this would probably introduce a bit of ghosting / interference as the similar frequencies might interfere with each other

Also as a side issue - if i was unable to get this resolved - does this make the owners of the windmills/wind turbines liable to provide me with (RTE mainly) through a Sky dish out of their own pocket since they have effectively through their own doing screwed up my TV reception ?

RE: Liability of windfarm owners over ghosting Im not aware of any Irish case law precedent but there was an unsuccesful action taken by some residents groups in London over ghosting caused by metalised windows in the Canary Wharf development.

Of course its not unknown for windfarm operators to help residents sort out reception problems as a goodwill gesture (or a condition of their planning permission) but I dont think this would go as far as giving you free $ky (especially if there were cheaper alternaive methods to resolve the interference)

You'll not get free Sky since you can get good RTE's from letterkenny.
