Can anyone recommend money management software which is easy to use and would, say, segregate money in an account.

Microsoft Money is the business. Very simple to use and you can arrange your finances with it very easily, track your spending, set budgets and use debt reduction planners. You don't have to be einstien to use it.

I have been using it for over 10 years and couldn't live without it. You don't need the most up to date version and you can pick up a copy dirt cheap on ebay. Money 2002 onwards is fine. Make sure you get the UK version and not the US version as the US version does not support euro.

Drop me a message and I could probably get you an "evaluation copy" for free if you are not sorted out already.
