Hey all, been watching for a while, this is first post tho...Anyway,e50 double chance in Fitz couple of weeks ago. Final two tables. I'm well stacked and chip leader slightly at table. I limp in utg with QTd, normally wouldnt do this but, i had limped with Kings which got shown down short time ago, and table was quite tight. The guy beside me min raises, he had been making standard 3/4 x bb raises so it seemed likely he had huge hand, probably aces as would have raised more with kings. It came round to me with everyone else folding and i was pretty much priced in with odds of 4.5-1. I called and checked blind. Flop: Q T 5. He bets i raise re raise, etc. all money goes in. He turns over aces and rivers me. I had only 1000 more than him so pretty screwed now. Just wondering what ye think. If i put him on this hand should I flat call to river and then push knowing he probably cant get away from aces?

Apart from the limp utg I think you played this fine. I prefer to raise here with a hand like that if I'm going to play. Raises from utg get through quite alot at this stage of a tournament, and if somebody wakes up with a monster they'll probably reraise you and you can get away from it. As it played out it was a terrible min raise from your man, he essentially told you what he had and priced you in to suck out, which you did. Once you hit that flop and you know he has a monster you want to get all the money in then and there and not give him a chance to fold, which you did. So post flop I think you played it fine, I just don't like limping utg, especially if I've been playing aggressively, people won't believe you for a big hand if you limp after you've been raising alot.

i agree with daithio here, i would have got the meny in ahead. the thing is, if a Jack or King comes what would you do? you dont know where you stand if such a scare card comes. as played you did it well, i dont mind the blind check on the flop either,if you hit a flush or the liek you are out of position, and you often get to see a turn for free which is nice with this type of hand.
