If this sin't in the right place...bite me...I mean, please move it :D

Tesco are moving into the software market , six packages costing £20 and under!!

A photo edit package, office suite, security package and a CD/DVD burning tool too! Wonder if they will be any good?

Thy will be available in 100 UK stores in late-October, probably as a trial run.

What do you guys think? Good news or bad news for Bill Gates and Google? ;)

Competiton is always good, can't imagine the software being the best out there, but should be decent for the price their charging.

    They'll have to be good.

    ^^ Tesconology ??

They currently sell computers, printers, ink etc. so it would seem like a natural progression for them. Do Walmart in the US sell software?? The thing is it probably won't affect the likes of PC World too much but the corner PC store type could suffer as their software is usually overpriced anyway.

Spot on! I use The GIMP, Avast anti-virus and OpenOffice amongst others but most people I know have never heard of any of these!

I can see Tesco doing well simply because the packages will be so much cheaper than anything else. I wonder how compatible the Office suite will be with the ubiquitous MS Office!
