Program Removal

    Ok, simple enough really.

Had McAfee, free trial with Notebook, it expired, all deleted and stayed off the net just to stay on the safe side.

Had a copy of Kaspersky 6 [official no cracks] and had to go on the net for an updater and install package. Pretty sure my comp stayed nice and clean, ran the usual products fopr scans afterwards.

Now the install corrupted somehow and I got a bit frustrated and I've decided to chuck Kaspersky, but when I try to I get the following:

click here to see image of f**k up

Basically I have tryed using AEVITA wipe and delete to search the fecker out, and also looking through my Temp folder and its not there, I need that .msi file to delete it :(

I have Norton Security 2007, and a few other things, but aside from that, I can't install a new security [package without deleting this. I'd rather not format, but if I have to of course I will.

    Any suggestions folks?

Specs: Intel Centrino Duo 2.0 Mhz / 1024 Mb Ram

Have you tried reinstalling Kaspersky? It's a much better option than Norton.

Reinstalling might be the best thing to do and then it might allow you to remove it properly. Do you use System Restore? You could rollback to before you installed Kapersky or deleted the files?

I cant reinstall as this supposed file doesnt appear to exist :(

And no matter what I try to install it states that Kaspersky 6 is installed and I should remove it, Norton even prompts to the Add/Remove Programs and from there, trying to remove Kaspersky gives the fault in my first post :/

This file is not on my comp and having scanned my comp for viruses it seems its a big old **** up :(

System restore is to the point where I sit upon a fresh new comp, and frankly I don't want to lose 20 Gigs music and Prison Break episode 1 - present :(

I'm open to correction here but system restore shouldn't delete your music or video files, just installed software.

Nope, your files should be fine, just rolls back registry changes, installed software etc. Those illegally downloaded files should be sitting their happily, stewing in their piracy when you restore :)

Correct, it normally tells you where they are located if they had to be moved (folder might be renamed or something).

One other possibility: your version of Kaspersky isn't the most up to date available. Yours is 6.0.0.300, mine is 6.0.0.303. You could download the latest version from their website and just put in your licence key after it installs? All program updates are free with Kaspersky as long as your licence is valid.

Uninstall Norton. Until you do that theres no point in going further.

Start->Programs-Accessories->System Tools->System Restore and select Restore my computer to an earlier time. It should give you a number of dates from where to rollback to.
