I've got sky+ but I could do with some extra recording capacity and I remember this being discussed on here before but I can't find it now.

    Does anybody know the details

    Cheers

You need to buy a larger capacity disk. It depends on if you have the 40G, 80G or 160G disk to start with. www.satcure.co.uk may have some info.

Not all IDE hard drives are suitable. There is a limit to disk size. A specific 5400 RPM "AV quality" drive may be best. 7200 rpm and general PC (P)ATA/IDE may get too hot or too noisey or stop for recalibration while you are recording.

Maxtor HDD seem to work a charm.
Ive heard you need to set the disk up to quiet mode as well

If you have one of the old Pace V2 boxes then you can upgrade it to a max of 250GB. Any Maxtor IDE 5400 RPM is recommended which you should set up in quiet mode.

You also need a Torx T10 screwdrive to open your Sky + box. You should be able to get one in any car accessories shop.

My SKY+ box has tamper-resistant screws (they have a raised point in the centre). You may need a Torx T10 with a hollow centre - check first. I got a set of tamper-proof screwdriver bits in Woodies.
