    Hi,

Really sorry if this is in the wrong place, please move.

Right, basically I am a professional web designer/developer and I do a fair bit of cash-in-hand freelance work outside of my main job. Its my dream to one day run my own agency and its been going along slowly but surely.

Today I was approached by an existing client I have and they told me that they could really help me out in the contacts department. Apparently there is a whole bunch of people that would love to use my services.

The only catch is that I need to legitimise everything or get beaten up by tax man. I am all for this but I don't really understand the whole business side of things beyond getting paid for work completed.

How do I go about setting up a business, whats the very first step?

    What I want help with:

    * Company run by myself (no shareholders) and also only staff member on books is myself.

    * I have everything I need so don't need loan or business plan, literally all I am doing is registering for Tax?

    * Do I need an accountant?

    * Money in the bank, do I need to have some cash in the business account to get going?

If anyone is still reading, thanks a million! :)
