Would you pay $5 for a C64 game, though? Thats the question...

Good point. Sure they weren't even worth $5 when they were first released.

    and the Dizzy games??

I could think of a couple of Minter favourites I'd like to see in there...

    Head over heels...

Although, I've got a C64 emulator, I don't think I'd actually buy any of these games as I've got them all already.

    Anyone read the original post?

Only.... Epyx.... are.... on.... board. :)

If its a success with them, I imagine other companies will chime in. I'd love to be able to play old Thalamus and Hewson games on a TV again. :)

i had the disc drive and was convinced that if i pressed down on the top of the drive while a floppy was in it, it wouldn't crash going on to the next level...

We had and have everything for ours. We have a Commodore monitor and printer aswell as tape drive and Floppy drive.

C64 was great. Anyone remember Batman for it or Micropose Soccer. Now those games I loved.

    Not my version :p

    My version was great.

Another god of a game is Flimbo's Quest.

Has anyone played C64 games recently? Other than a hand full of genuine classics like Sentinel, Mayhem in Monsterland and Uridium practically all of them have aged incredibly badly. Prepare to have those rose tinted specs shattered.

Aye, the load times were horrendus but at least we didnt know any better at the time. And we had all those fancy Splash screens with some music to pass the time. Ocean software were great for that. "Delta" by Thalamus used to have some sort of Mix screen where by you could change the Load music with close to a dozen different effects. Kept me entertained anyways.

Anyone remember the Last Ninja load music? Or the tune that used to Play when Robobcop loaded? Konami too had a distinct theme tune for their loads(have a lump in the throat just thinking about it)

They probably arent all as good as we remember em but the simple games Im sure have aged well. Bubble Bobble didnt really have much that could age badly, just simple and addictive gameplay.

Bubble Bobble is a great example. The game is still great fun and was an amazing conversion. It wsa arcade perfect depite the fact that it had to be programmed from scratch since Taito lost the source code. In fact it's the best version of the game available since it isn't emulated perfectly on Mame (there are bugs involving power up appearance epecially the EXTEND letter bubbles). The awful Probe Software handled conversions after the C64 and basically stole the Mame code to emulate the rom. All the bugs in the mame versions are present in the Probe developed versions.

I've played Midnight Resistance, Impossible Mission and IK+, all of which were great.

Also Defender Of The Crown and Boulderdash are still classics.

Oh and Pirates! possibly the best ever

There's just something about impossible mission. No matter how old it gets it never seems dated in the gameplay department. Midnight resistance is a very dated and was always better in the arcade.

I used to love loderunner on it, it seemed simple but was so frustrating and addictive
