inquired about purchasing an item on ebay, when asked about payment options i received this mail:

    Yes i ship to Ireland.
I want to do this transaction under the security of ebay .Here is the deal. If you will give me your details (the full name and address where you want the item to be shipped), I will contact ebay about this transaction. They will check both of us , and if everything is in order ,ebay will reply with a confirmation containing all the details about shipping and payment. The deal will be made through ebay's protection program.

This i think is a bit unsual.

Eh, he shouldn't have to check anything with eBay. You win the auction, you pay with Paypal using the automated checkout on eBay. The email does not show what payment methods the seller accepts. Any ideas?

I'm an eBay monkey and this a new scam doing the rounds. Report this guy asap as it's pure BS.

I'd imagine the scam works by virtue of the fact that you don't contact eBay yourself, the seller is doing all this. What he'll actually do is spoof an email from eBay to you with links to some bogus escrow site, or asking for western union payment. It seems legit to the novice (or stupid) user but it's all a con.

yeah all hes asking is for your Name and address, which he will find out anyway when you buy somthing

Sorry to pull this back to the top. The way it works is that he spoofs an eBay mail and makes it look fairly official. eBay has a protection program but doesn't have a shipping & payment protection program like this...

eBay NEVER do this. They don't check the buyer or the seller(wtf does he mean by check anyway?) and they never give shipping and payment details. That is entirely up to the seller as eBay is "only a venue".

This guy plans to spoof an official email from eBay, give you BS payment details claiming to be from eBay, then he'll take your money and not send an item.
