Replacement seat belts: call for help!!

    Hello folks,

I need to replace the front seat belts on my 75 XJC. I see this as measure of hygiene, after 30 years, those babies cannot possibly be as good as they were when new (in fact the locking mechanisms seem dead) and technology has (thankfully, hopefully?) progressed.

Anyway, I bought a set of brand new Securon belts through a classic car spares retailer in the UK and ... they dont fit. For two reasons:

1- the stack buckle is 45cm long when it should be 30cm
2- the buckle is not equipped with the electric switch and 2 wires needed to connect to the dashboard alert.

Problem 1 is easy to solve: the retailer is happy to take the whole set up back and send me one with a 30cm buckle (I know it would be so much more simple and cheaper to post only the buckle... I know...).
Problem 2 is hardly life threatening, agreed, yet I would not mind making an attempt at keeping the car as authentic as possible.

So here is my question to you guys: do you know of a modern car (as modern as possible) that would have front seat belts with a stack buckle 30cm long or less.

If you do, please let me know and I will try to find such a car (of course not a frontal damage one...) in a breakers yard and get the belts out.

    Any other tip gladly accepted.

    Thanks

    PS. Color = black

    Sorry Eric, I don't know.

But your car has a dashboard seatbelt alert? Interesting - is that standard to all SII cars? I've a SIII XJ6 and pretty sure there's no seatbelt alert.

My SII is ex US, so it is loaded with a whole bunch of goodies of variable value and interest...

I think I have found salvation, in the name of a company called FDTS in the UK. 01932 342 043 sue@intecnica.com

Essentially, they refurbish seat belts (all colours available), keeping all original parts and replacing what needs to be replaced. So I should be able to keep my original buckles :). FDTS is a one man band (well, one woman band rather, Sue just took over from her 84y old dad!!)

Will let you know how I progress and if if prices are ... affordable...
