I'd say your best bet is either the Spectra store there at Molly Malone or else O2 Experience on Grafton Street...

They also have them in 3G on Henry St. I would wait a week or two if you can id say they will be updated to core 2duo processors in the next few weeks.

What are you basing this on? Not very likely I'd say...

I picked one up from 3G. Thanks.

I really needed it this week which is why I wanted to get it from a shop. I would have got it from the apple store otherwise (or waited and got one from the US and saved a fortune).

Thanks for the help all. The 17" is savage.

Fact, my mate works for Apple in Cork.

Not wonder why all the MB's and MBP display models are going for €100-€200less in the apple store at the end of Grafton st at the moment?

Or why they have no MB's or MBP's to sell at the moment in an awful lot of places?

Oh and sorry Mr Fibble, i only found the discounted MBP's yesterday or i would have told you, sorry!

Better off getting a new one anyway in my opinion. That way you know hundreds haven't been messing around with it.

Were they x demo ones discounted? Its would be suprising, and a pity :-/ if they had new ones discounted. I rang a few shops which were sold out and they said they wouldnt have any new ones till end Oct because new model coming out. In the past they (apple stores) have just let stock sell out at full price over discounting. I guess it depends on the stock in each particular shop.

Ye only the demo ones were discounted. Dont know about the new ones. They didnt have any MB's or MBP's to sell anyway when i went it. And the ones that had been on display were gone from their little spot.

    I hope they don't upgrade!

I've just gotten a new 15" MBP with 2G ram.

They're as hot as hell - with an even faster processor they'll be leaving burn marks on desks not to mention laps!

Yeah, mine gets unbelievably hot too. I dont mind so long as it dosnt damage itself. What I do mind is the hinges on the screen being so loose that it flaps down if you dont have the base flat - like you would if you were using it when lying down. I've since read that this is a pretty common problem on the 17", hit n miss if you get a loose one.

On the heat issue, you could check out this:

I haven't used it but it's discussed here.

As to the pending updates, the rumours are gone over at some length on a lot of Mac discussion sites:

    and

    for example.
