First of all I this is my first post I do not know all of the terms I have read here.. so please keep it simple.

    What I have is a dish 500 and a 301 receiver...out of warranty.

Can't get a signal on several channels espn's,TNT etc. error 002. All the Echostar 119 transponder 8 ones.

menu 6,1,1 to "install" dish to look at the signal and its over 100 on 119 sat and trans. 110 right around 100. Check switch both good, check system and good...odd even found both sats.

My wife and I have moved the dish azi, skew, angle...can't get a better signal. This done with the TV signal and my wife and a cheap finder.
Where I have it is the best signal I can get from 110 and 119.
    NOTHING in the way.

New cable, one splice...for the using the meter.

    Thanks
    Michael

This is an Irish satellite board so not many, if any will be able to help you with Dish Network problems.

That said, it looks like you have covered all the bases in terms of your setup.
Perhaps, there are problems with the actual transmissions.

YOu need USA side help. We can't get those satellites here. I also think it uses a Circular polarised LNB, none of the regular Western European TV services use this for DTH.

If all your other transponders have correct channels then you are on the correct satellite. 2 degrees movement puts you on a different satellite. If any channels don't match the problem is you are prefectly lined up on the wrong satellite. Many channels are duplicated on different satellites.

If you can try your receiver on a neigbour's coax then that would rule out receiver. If it works there, then it is an LNB fault, if not it is a receiver fault.
    Google on Dish Network.

Due to size of Atlantic, no Ku band DTH service for Europe can be received in USA, nor USA service received in Europe. A few Satellites can be seen and received by both continents, but they use separate Europe and Americas beams mostly for feeds.

    Thanks Watty,

Either side of the Ocean its a dish and your info is helpful.

Did not look around to see where I was and it was not obviously apparant from what I read here. My mistake, small world here.

Wish I could do some of the free test.
Far as I know there is not another dish for miles. Cable TV is most popular here.
Probably go that route myself so I can watch sports. 119 west T8 are the ESPN's channels here....and others not so missed.
    I need this fixed...now.
My sats are Echostar 110 and 119.....west. Oval dish locks on both with a strong signal.

    Cheers

No, there is sufficient space! It might be interesting having a DN customer here! :)
