Hey, im thinking of getting an external flash either 430 or 580, but im leaning more towards 580 as i shoot a lot of gigs and low light stuff

just wondering, is it ok to use rechargeable batteries in the speedlite, cos ive a load of high capacity ones lying around and a good charger too

my friend who knows loads about everything esp. cameras reckons i shouldnt use rechargeable batteries in the flash as they work at a lower voltage 1.2 compared to 1.5 and that they will draw more current than disposable batteries and eventually damage the flash. I kinda reckon this is bo!!ox cos in the manual it says its ok to use rechargable batteries and im assuming there wud be some sort of power regulation for when the batteries drops in voltage anyways and it seems like something that wud be easy to sort out circuitry wise. He says its only canon rechargeable batteries that are ok in the flash

Anyone able to shed some light on this for me before i shell out loads on disposable batteries and fill a few landfills

I doubt everyone uses duracell in their speedlites ,I use rechargables with my 430EX. I thought rechargable batteries had a higher ampage than standard batteries so the bite would be the same
