I have a laptop and Id like to be able to play poker anywhere(only around the house) with wireless internet. I have eircom broadband atm and I remember an ad a while ago where katerine thomas(the fit bird from the travel show who has blonde hair on top but black hair down below:D ) was harpin on about eircom wireless. Does anyone have this and does it work? I dont want the thing disconnecting every five minutes. How do you go about getting it? Thanks.

I have BT broadband with a wireless router. Speed is good, almost never have any disconnecting problems. Just get any half decent router and make sure your laptop has a wireless card (which it should), if not, you can get one or get a USB wireless adaptor or something which should work fine.

Yeah, same here with BT, i have the package with the least speed and i rarely have disconnecting problems. Im sure Eircom would be the same

This is really better suited to the Broadband or Wireless forums where I'm sure they have explored this topic to death.

Essentially no difference between wireless and normal broadband (except that the former is far more convenient).

With broadband you definitely won't encounter many connection failings.

I have Eircom broadband at home and a Linksys wireless router in the house that works deadly. Disconns only happen if I take it into the jacks under the stairs and do a lead-type turd :D

Check to see if there any ariel like protrusions from your ADSL (eircom) modem. If not you want one of these:

If your laptop doesn't have an internal WiFi card you will also need something like this: http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=326416

I bet you just saw AA folded as you trotted back from the jacks.
