I now have digital terrestrial providing me with perfect quality Digital RTE1 and 2, TV3, TnaG. I also have a Sky Box with a FreeSat card.. and I also have an NTL analog subscription, which I use with my dual tuner pvr500mce for my MCE box.

You can probably guess what question is comig next:
Between the Digital Terrestrial and the FreeSat, I get most of the channels that are made available via NTL analog (albeit at 20 euro cheaper a month and much better quality). The only reason I continue with the NTL sub, is because I still get value out of it from my MCE PC.

So, what I'm wondering is, is there a Media Centre application that allows you to pick and choose your TV sources, or have multiple sources (e.g. Myth, Sage etc.)? I know that MCE2005 only supports one type of source (although you can have one or more of them). But is there a Media Centre app that would support both DVB-S and DVB-T at the same time, with multiple EPG sources?

I think Media Portal will do this for you, but I am not so sure about more than one EPGs. That's not a problem, because you can use the likes of xmltv to grab all the channels you have (hence, one epg covering all channels).

I use GB PVR and I have two sources coming into it, via the RCA connectors and via the RF in. Granted, they are on the one TV card, but I AFAIK the software can support multiple sources with the one EPG.

Its not an ideal solution but have you checked out whether you can recieve Freeview or not? Some places in Dublin North certainly can.

If you so could could have a complete DVB-T solution and replace your 500MCE with either an all digital or hybrid tuner.

You could then use one of the XML guide hacks with MCE.

secret_Squirrel: When you say FreeView, you're referring to Digital Terrestrial, right?
If so, then yes, I do receive the four previously mentioned Irish channels (currently directly into a Digital tuner in my LCD TV, but if it would work out, I would pick up a DVB-T card for my media PC). The problem is that I receive the other channels via Digital Satellite, not Digital Terrestrial. So what I'm hoping to do, is to merge the two sources into a seamless Media Centre experience, with one EPG. i.e. grab the digital terrestrial via DVB-T and the Sky channels using the S-Video connector on the pvr500.

Tom Dunne: Sorry I actually meant a single EPG, that includes channels from more than one source. It sounds like GB PVR might be worth investigating.

Specifically I meant UK DTT, which can be picked up in N County Dublin (dont know where you are) fairly easily.

As mentioned the EPG bit is quite easy. Any of the XML solutions that were being used before Ireland was added to the MCE EPG will allow you to create a custom EPG based on what you recieve.

Im just not sure how you would go about combining all your inputs into one that MCE could use, so another PVR might be better.

Oh, right.. Nope, I can't pick up the UK UK DTT using my current equipment. I'm in South Dublin, by the coast..

This post would seem to suggest that some pretty serious hardware would be required to pick these up..

Media portal seems to support multiple different types of sources. If you look at this screenshot: http://www.team-mediaportal.com/uploads/management0.jpg
they seems to support DVB-C, DVB-T and DVB-S simultaneously..

Think I need to do some more reading.

Pulled this from the Media Portal FAQ:
How many TV-Cards can i use properly with MediaPortal?
    # Generally speaking as much as you can install into your PC.
    # But there is a limitation caused by a bug in WindowsXP.
    # With Windows XP you can only use 1 DVB-Card without issues. You can still use multiple analog cards and one DVB-Card. But because of the bug in Windows XP you can't use more than one DVB-Card out of the box.
    # This bug may be fixed with Service Pack 3 for WindowsXP.
    # The only exception is the Skystar2 which doesnt use a BDA-driver and is supported by Mediaportal. You can use one or two Skystar 2 TV-Cards along with one other DVB-TV-Card and multiple analog cards with WindowsXP.
    # With "MCE Rollup 2" Microsoft updated the files "mpeg2data.ax" and "PsisDecd.dll" to fix this bug for Windows MCE 2005. Thats why you can use as many DVB-Cards as you can install into your PC with this operation system.
