    hey all,

Just wondering is there a way to set up mymail to automatically forward to another webmail account, like gmail? I'm back in trinity after 2 years absence and I HATE the mymail programme. So I just want to have to check and deal with one programme.

    Cheers in advance!

    :D

its possible to do , but IIS don't allow longterm forwarding to external mail systems, can easily lead to loops and all sorts of unsightly things that can use their bandwidth

following myth's advice in a thread about a year ago, i started forwarding my mymail to gmail. They haven't tried to stop it since. Don't think there is a huge problem with long-term forwarding.

Yeah, mine has been forward for a good while now. Only annoying thing is when sending official e-mails (to ISS, e-mail lists and within college) you can't/shouldn't use your g-mail.

Bah i hate hitting wrong key, retype :
You can get gmail to set the from address so it looks like its from your tcd account, though the headers will say it came from gmail. And i think some college mailing lists will reject mails not comming from internal smtp servers.

As for forwarding to gmail directly, i know from experence that gmail can have hissy fits(hasn't been one in quite a while..over a year now) wrt forwards, so just bear in mind, if it does have one those forwards to gmail will probally be killed off lickidy spliff.

Yep - I have TCD->Gmail forwarding as well (for the last year or so, it's been fine)

I also have Gmail masking my From field so that it looks like I'm using the TCD account. (Whoever said it was right though - this won't work for lists)
