According to their FAQ, you dial a number using their Symbian or Java client, it wraps it up in an SMS (or GPRS data request) and sends it to their server. Their server then makes a call to your mobile and a call to the other user before bridging them together.

32.2c incl VAT for mobile to mobile. 17.25 for mobile to landline. That's anywhere within Europe, Australia, US, Canada, etc.

If you have a minute bundle then it generally makes a lot more sense to use one of the cheapie international call providers through a national number. Most of them have an 01-number that you can then dial an international number through. You end up paying about a cent a minute for the call to most landlines.

I've tested Jajah. It works as advertised, and it might be a good alternative to Skype for many people. Landline to landline calls are generally 2c per minute.
