    Technically this is broadcasting so........

Anyway, I am looking for a Wireless Camera that either comes with a monitor or that has a receiver that can be plugged into a tv... Otherwise known as a baby monitor!

Woolworths in the UK had them last year for £49.95. the package included a wireless b&w / ir cam and a 5" b&w screen with built in receiver. Of course now that I need one as a present for someone, I can't seem to get a reasonable one.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    MJ

    Try Maplin, Homebase, Argos etc.
You can use a video sender (60 Euro), camera (50 Euro) and 99 Euro portable 7" DVD player, the one in Argos (acoustic solutions) and Curries (Mitsui) can take video in.

There are two kinds wireless camera, both 2.4GHz. The FM analogue Video kind (About 80 Euro) which will work with receiver part of any video sender and often come with receiver. Such cameras/video senders have four standard channels A, B, C D no matter the make / model, they are compatible if CE mark.

The other kind is an IP camera, which can be only used with WiFi and a PC/Laptop or Internet. More expensive and much lower quality.

    Aviod illegal USA 900MHz gear.

There are loads of these on the Internet, you can buy them using a credit card. Google 2.4Ghx wireless camera.

Also try www.longcom.ie - they used to sell these

Yes I have delt with Long Communications. Not the cheapest, great folks in Donegal. Be sure anything from Internet or eBay has CE mark and is the licence exempt 2.4GHz or it is VERY illegal. The USA 900MHz gear is absolutely illegal and will cause interference and suffer interference. The 1.4GHz gear is ONLY for licenced security operators and the 1.2GHz to 1.3Ghz gear only for Licenced Wireless Experimenters (radio amateurs). UHF gear, i.e. high powered video modulator is VERY illegal and rubbish quality.
