problem accessing some internet sites

    I am unable to access the following sites

    hotmail.com
    msn.com
    msn.co.uk
    myspace.com
    or sign into msn messenger.

    The rest of the internet works fine, Aside from myspace.com they all seem to be part of the msn network. I cannot ping any of them either but every other site seems fine. Any ideas?

    I connect to the net through a D-link router. The fact that online games and other sites still work perplexes me...

    Have you ran anti-spyware/anti-virus scans? What error message do you get?

    What browser are you using? Try IE if you are using Firefox or vice-versa and see if theres any difference.

    Ill swap my IE for firefox now....dang i like my IE, i only have to type my desired site address into a folders address bar, NOW thats integration!

    No spyware or viruses as far as i know, well i use lavasoft and nortons...

    changed to FW after my dinner. It didnt fix it. Had a feeling it wouldnt since the pings didnt work.
    Its so fustrating. All my mail is hotmail...

    all those sites appear to be up and running OK

    i wouldn't rely on pings to these sites, a lot of the time sites don't respond to ping or ICMP traffic, so you'll just get timeouts back

    OP ... what ISP are you with ? might be a DNS problem with your ISP, it happens more often than you think

    try using the following address in your browser 207.68.172.246

    that should resolve to the msn.com site.

    if you want to get the IP address of the other sites on your list, use www.dnsstuff.com to get them ... good luck!
