Normally I have my cars transported to Ireland, but occasionally I combine the fact that i have to be in Ireland for business with driving a car across myself.

As it now happens, I have more than one car to get to Ireland, and the person normally helping me with this is not able to do it this time.

So therefore I'm throwing out an opportunity on the forum to find out if there are people willing to help me out this coming Thursday 5th until Saturday 7th October.

I'm looking for experienced drivers, preferably with classic cars, with driving 'on the wrong side' of the road, and with the steering wheel on 'the wrong side' :D ... although effectively we'll only need to do about 60 miles on Dutch roads... No boy racers or test pilots need apply....

Send me a pm if you're interested. Naturally it's all expenses paid (flights, ferries and hotel stays)

That does sound like a great opportunity for a roadtrip. Are the cars being driven through the UK or just to the Dutch ferry going to Dublin?

I doubt I could get the time (from wife or work) though if I thought I'd be driving a Ferrari Dino rather than a FIAT 500 I'd reconsider. ;)

The cars will need to be driven approx 60 miles to Rotterdam, Night ferry Rotterdam-Hull and then accros the UK to Hollyhead for the 13.45 HHS. Back in DunLaoghaire approx 90 minutes later...

The cars that will be driven are a 68 Porsche 912, 70 Peugeot 404 and 75 Mercedes 280CE

Just FYI Paul... I did that trip last week and I made the 1345 ferry with 1 minute to spare!!! Terrible roadworks in north wales. I didn't even take a long break en route.. perhaps 20 mins.

I guess I was only cruising at 100kph max though.

...I know the usual 13.45 is tight, but we'll be cruising at approx 110-120km/h, but I thought I'd check and actually according to the new Stena sailing schedule from the 25th September the HSS leaves at 16:00, which leaves plenty time to spare! And then there is also the Irish Ferries Swift leaving at 15:15... so plenty of choice and we won't be stranded.

Sorry to hear that Tony, i'll keep you in mind next time ;-) and yes it's the Beige metallic 280CE...
